How many CE hours are required by state?

Alabama

VETERINARIANS

  • CE hours: 20
  • Term: 1 year
  • General medicine topics: 60 hours (over a four-year period)
  • Formal meetings: 1 hour allowed (over a four-year period)

TECHNICIANS

  • CE hours: 8
  • Term: 1 year
  • General medicine topics: 6 hours minimum, obtained from seminars, programs, or short courses
  • Formal meetings: 2 hours allowed for meetings of approved content

Alaska

VETERINARIANS

  • CE hours: 30
  • Term: 2 years
  • General medicine topics: 30 hours if approved by national, regional, or local associations
  • Non-scientific topics: 10 hours allowed

TECHNICIANS

  • CE hours: 15
  • Term: 2 years
  • General medicine topics: 10 hours if approved by national, state, or local associations
  • Other: Academic—a maximum of 10 hours per academic quarter allowed; a maximum of 15 hours per semester allowed
